We are seeking an engineering manager and lead software developer to be part of a hardworking software team dedicated to prototyping experimental and operational capabilities that enable warfighters to harness a diverse set of sensors and weapons to accomplish numerous missions essential to the defense of our nation. We are committed to becoming a widely recognized center of expertise for combat system and warfighting information analytics that includes software development of experimental and prototype functionality. We take pride in achieving practical, operationally sound solutions to complex warfighter problems, with a focus on innovation, affordability, and timeliness. With your help, we can continue to develop our software capabilities and develop systems to address critical operational shortfalls through research, conceptualization, design, implementation, deployment, and evaluation.

Duties:

As a section supervisor of the A3B-7 Prototype and Tactical Software Development team you will provide leadership in the following areas ...

Mission Effectiveness:

* Lead and collaborate on the key technical efforts of the section in support of Navy and Homeland missile defense.
* Provide technical expertise particularly in areas such as software engineering and software prototype development.
* Lead staff in developing software products that use and/or interface with tactical software programs.
* Collaboratively identify and propose new ideas for research efforts and technical projects.
* Participate in the formation and implementation of A3B's vision, strategy, and execution.

Staff Development:

* Provide staff with mentoring and career coaching by assessing and reinforcing strengths and identifying development plans for future growth. You will inspire staff to cultivate a culture that values creativity, commitment to quality, diversity of thought, inclusion, and continual improvement.

Organizational Competencies and Resources:

* Guide and help expand the technical competencies of your section. Identify team needs, help recruit, interview and assess potential new hires. Explore new opportunities and create working relationships with technical programs.

Functional:

* Assist with workforce planning, including monitoring your team's technical work for quality and timeliness, and monitoring and prioritizing staff workloads
* Collaborate with program and project management to ensure sufficient funding for your team
* Write nominations to recognize and promote your staff

Required Qualifications:

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

* Possess a BS degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
* Have at least 5 years of professional experience in system software engineering
* Have a proven ability in effectively leading technical staff in solving complex problems.
* Possess strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communications abilities, and organizational skills with a record of accomplishment in a team environment.
* Hold an active Secret level security clearance and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information and facilities. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
* Are willing and able to occasionally (10%) travel and work at military facilities including underway on US Navy ships and aircraft, requiring work outside of and in excess of normal working hours. Some additional local travel to meet with sponsors and contractors may also be needed.

Desired Qualifications:

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

* Possess an MS (or higher) degree in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics or related technical field.
* Have experience with prototyping advanced concepts for demonstration and/or experimentation.
* Have experience interacting and getting feedback from U.S. warfighters.
* Have previously worked on projects with agencies in the missile defense community, such as Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Navy AAW/BMD, DARPA, or ONR.
* Are skilled at building meaningful relationships across organizational boundaries.
* Have prior experience building a diverse, highly skilled workforce and in mentoring future leaders.
