Expeditors' data is a key element of Expeditors' customer service and critical to the success of the company. Databases enable Expeditors' data to be secure and readily available in a performant manner. The Database Administration Supervisor is a leader of a highly skilled technical team that is responsible for developing and supporting Expeditors' Databases through a focus on people, projects, metrics, and culture.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

* Hire, develop, appraise, challenge, and mentor staff
* Proactively promote the company's cultural attributes and a collaborative atmosphere
* Participate in defining, communicating, and implementing standards and processes
* Oversee team's projects, taking ownership to ensure work is accurately estimated and projects are completed in a timely and cost effective manner
* Utilize metrics to set standards and goals in a collaborative manner
* Develop techniques to encourage staff to utilize metrics as a means to improving productivity
* Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities while keeping Expeditors' best interests in mind
* Ensure that Expeditors' database systems remain operational and well maintained
* Monitor the level of customer service within the team
* In a professional manner, provide honest input and feedback on work to peers and senior management

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or equivalent 3 to 5 years of experience in a technical role
* 3 to 5 years of experience administering relational databases (DB2, Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or Vertica)
* Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen and communicate effectively
* Ability to communicate technical information both verbally and in writing to technical, non-technical, and senior management staff
* Proven leadership skills and background
* An understanding of project management and a proven record of execution
* Experience in developing and implementing processes and procedures
* Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks to completion simultaneously
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
