Job Description

LOOKING FOR: A self-driven, senior candidate with an active Secret clearance to join our AMERICAN SYSTEMS Engineering team as a Submarine System Engineer. Candidate will be supporting the United States Navy in Mclean, VA.

As a Submarine System Engineer, you will:

* Work within the Engineering Division to support the development of new documentation for the Signal Data Recording Systems (SDRS) as well as other submarine systems.

A week in the life of a Submarine System Engineer:

* Use guidelines provided by the U.S. Navy, develop detailed SDRS Operations and Maintenance (O&M) IETMs. The IETMs will include system specifications which are developed based on Navy supplied requirements for the systems including internal system functions and requirements for transferring data between the SDRS and external interfaced systems.
* Develop signal interface diagrams, functional block diagrams and troubleshooting flowcharts from multiple sensor inputs to the SDRS using existing U.S. Navy sonar systems and commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS) equipment engineering data and technical documentation.
* Develop detailed functional descriptions of the major system components.
* Develop detailed system operating instructions.
* Develop detailed SDRS corrective maintenance procedures.
* Develop detailed system installation and removal procedures.
* Provide engineering support to other team members who are developing operation and maintenance documentation, test software applications, and computer based training products in support of new and upgraded systems.
* Review preliminary engineering drawings supplied by the design activity and identify and report any discrepancies found based on known signal or power flow requirements.
* Test, evaluate and provide feedback to the customer on updates to system graphical user interfaces (displays) based on published design requirements.

Job Requirements

* Active Secret clearance
* Bachelors Degree (preferred but not required)

At least 5+ years of experience in:

* Submarine system engineer (i.e SDRS, sonar, etc.)
* Developing O&M IETMs and all supporting engineering documentation.
