Job Description

The Division of General Medicine is seeking a Statistical Programmer to join the Columbia University Program in Decision Analysis for Chronic Disease Prevention, a dynamic group of health researchers specialized in decision and policy analysis related to cardiovascular disease prevention (for further information, see https://www.genmed.columbia.edu/research/research-centers-and-programs/columbia-outcomes-research-and-decision-analysis-corda).

The programmer will develop a new R software (or equivalent software) version of the established and high-impact Cardiovascular Disease Policy Model, a computer simulation model of cardiovascular disease in the U.S. population. The programmer will work closely with the team including senior scientists. Performs additional duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant related research and programming experience. Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics or public health with emphasis on biostatistics and/or epidemiology would substitute for experience. Ability to independently program and perform statistical analysis in SAS required, in addition to familiarity with MS Office applications. Must possess good organizational, interpersonal, quantitative and writing skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with investigators and other staff. Must be able to function semi-autonomously. Special Instructions Preferred Qualifications Strong quantitative skills, experience with programming in R (preferred) and/or Python. Experience with TreeAge software and familiarity with population health research (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics, decision analysis, health economics). Knowledge of other statistical packages, longitudinal data analysis, and/or website programming a plus. Essential Functions Additional Essential Functions (Limit to 3950 characters.)
