The Role

Proofpoint is looking for a software engineer on the Targeted Attack Protection (TAP) team to work on designing,building and deploying a large-scale cloud-based web portals, data processing and APIs where our customers go to understand the advanced threats that are attacking them and people centric view of their cybersecurity. Our portal provides rich insights about the threats that are targeting their industry and the specific individuals within their enterprise. You will be challenged with rapid customer growth, dealing with large scale data volumes that requires true "big data" technologies and solutions.

Your day-to-day

* Take end-to-end ownership of key areas of the architecture and delivery, working with your group and other groups in the company as necessary.
* Participate and organize design reviews and help the team arrive at practical and effective design solutions
* Participate in development and code reviews
* Drive important technical decisions and help understand and mitigate risks as needed.
* Enable the architecture to deliver high quality products in a continuous integration and delivery environment.
* Work with other groups to enable better use of products and services build by our team
* Mentor junior members of the team

What you bring to the team

* Experience in designing, building and deploying large-scale applications
* Experience with the latest container and deployment technologies like docker, kubernetes etc
* Strong coding skills in java and/or similar programming languages
* Experience with relational and non-relational database systems
* Strong experience in building highly operable microservices
* Experience with Elasticsearch and Cassandra is a huge plus
* High-energy, motivated, detailed-oriented and have the ability to rally a team
* Experience in dealing with high volume of events and exposure to technologies like Kafka
* Experience in dealing with big data pipelines, analytics and visualization is a huge plus.
