Skilled, motivated software engineer needed to work in the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) community, developing submarine weapons and SONAR systems, specifically for international customers.

Specific SONAR/weapons domain expertise is not required, but could be a discriminator.

The Locale: Manassas, Virginia is situated in the Northern Virginia region surrounded by Prince William County and is about 30 miles west / southwest of Washington, D.C. Manassas has a population of approximately 37,500 and is considered part of the Washington Metropolitan Area. Amtrak and the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) supply both regular and commuter rail service to the D.C. metropolitan and surrounding areas, as well as convenient rail/bus links to the D.C. Metro system. In addition to the attractions in the nation's capital, Prince William and neighboring Fairfax, Loudoun, Fauquier, and Stafford counties are home to diverse historical, cultural, dining, indoor/outdoor recreational and sporting activities - all within a 90-minute drive or less. These include: civil war re-enactments, museums, international cuisine, hiking/biking trails, league sports, river/lake fishing, skiing/snowboarding, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah and other National Parks. A one- to four-hour drive takes you to areas such as Annapolis, Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the Virginia/Maryland eastern shore, DelMarVa beaches, the Jersey shore, or the whitewater rapids in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Manassas and its surrounding communities offer the excitement of living near the capital region while also providing a more relaxed and scenic suburban setting.

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for this position will include a BS degree in computer engineering, computer science, or closely related technical field; or equivalent experience/combined education and 5 years of professional level experience.

Proficiency with Java, and Swing and/or JavaFX, is a must.

Familiarity with developing applications for Linux.

Experience in object-oriented development for a real-time or near real-time system is required. This includes the ability to develop and troubleshoot multi-threaded applications in this environment.

Solid mathematical skills are required.

The desire to learn and grow is required.

Strong verbal and written communications skills are required.

DOD Interim Secret clearance or higher required to be currently held by candidate.
