Overview:

We are looking for a bright, motivated programmer to join our UCSF-affiliated neuroscience research lab, located at the San Francisco VA campus. Our neuroimaging research group conducts several NIH and other funded projects, focused on better understanding cognitive and emotional functioning in neuropsychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia and depression.

Position Definition:

The successful candidate will monitor, revise, and complete data processing and analysis progress for various fMRI and EEG studies, routinely reporting to the principal investigator (PI) on progress, issues, and new hardware/software requirements. The position involves both actively revising and updating existing data processing routines as well as writing new analysis routines and researching other methods currently applied in the field. Technical requirements also include maintenance of various software installations on Linux applications servers.

Essential Functions:

* Primary function: Analyze fMRI and EEG data sets on an individual subject and group level and prepare data for higher-level analyses and publication/presentation by PI
* Program new scripts in Matlab and other programming languages as needed
* Maintain and update internal lab image data processing pipeline and tables in Matlab and mySQL, respectively
* Apply QA programs to ensure high quality data, including PHP scripting for easy web access
* Monitor and maintain web-based EEG upload site and associated dashboards Requirements Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in an associated field, Masters degree preferred
* 1-2 Years of experience
* Good organizational and computer skills
* Statistical (regression) and data/signal processing experience
* Database knowledge (mySQL, postgres)
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
* Comfortable scripting in Matlab and working in Linux/Unix, Windows, and Mac OSX environments
* Familiarity with some of the following is desired: SPM, FSL, AFNI, BXH tools, E-prime, Presentation, EEGlab, Brain Vision Analyzer, Microsoft Access, SPSS, SAS, R, RedCap, freeSurfer, PHP scripting
