Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a highly proactive leader who has a passion for science, new product development, continuous improvement and individual/team development. The staff project manager will partner with Bio-Rad's Digital Biology Group leadership team and Director of Program Management to manage an exciting new project. A strong scientific back ground (preferably in life science or other technical area) and excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are mandatory.

Responsibilities

* Mentoring and developing the project team
* Providing management and leadership skills and drives execution of business goals
* Project oversight of creation, implementation and execution of project plans/timelines to achieve business goals
* Project oversight of creating and maintaining project records including project and design history files
* Ensuring thoroughness, accuracy and high quality of project documentation
* Leveraging well developed interpersonal skills to build & maintain positive working relationships with functional groups throughout the organization
* Identifying interdependencies/critical path items and look for strategic ways to improve efficiency and/or successfully remove roadblocks
* Project oversight of project risk registers and guiding team around potential obstacles
* Use strong project and organizational knowledge, leadership and active facilitation to enable effective team meetings and high performance teams

Qualifications

Education:

* BS degree in chemistry, biology or similar scientific field; Six Sigma green belt or PMP certification is a plus.

Experience:

* 5+ years in a technical project leadership role with hands on experience managing reagent projects as part of systems
* Experience working and presenting at an executive leadership level
* Highly experienced with life science and/or clinical diagnostics products moving them through the full development cycle
* Experience in a highly regulated industry such as diagnostics, medical device or pharmaceuticals is a plus
* NIPT experience is a plus
* Willingness and ability to travel (domestic and international) 5-10% of the time.

* Must be a proactive leader who has an active management style and sense of ownership of project deliverables; must demonstrate good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for finding solutions
* Must be willing and able to operate at a system level while and dig deep into specifics; must understand how to appropriately balance when to operate at the various levels
* Must have a strong balance between science and business acumen with a deep desire to deliver business value to the organization
* Must have full command of the product development lifecycle especially the value of risk analysis processes
* Able to articulate extremely complex information at all levels of organization.
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral), interpersonal skills, analytical/problem solving skills, negotiation skills, cross-functional team leadership skills and goal setting skills required.
* Effective presentation and meeting skills within all levels of the organization and with a wide variety of external/internal colleagues and collaborators.
* Strong computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, Visio and database)
* Ability to think strategically and creatively in leading project teams through obstacles and/or finding the best path forward
