Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Software Systems Architect/Engineer 5 to join our team of qualified,
diverse individuals working toward ensuring our country's security. We want self-starters who will be part of a team
of software professionals developing world-class software in a structured environment to meet our customer's high
expectations. You will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirements, design,
development, verification, sustainment and test support for our programs. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.
Our expertise is in delivering complex software-defined communications systems to support aviation missions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for capture activities for overall technical solution and architecture for organic growth in partnership with the operating unit director. The selected candidate must have expertise with advanced airborne platform communications solutions or ground segment solutions and associated technologies. The selected candidate will be responsible for devising, documenting and presenting technical solutions to prospective customers with an ongoing period of performance to launch and execute on new programs, follow-on phases and derivative technology programs.
Capture responsibilities include working with multiple disciplines including systems, hardware and software architects and consulting engineers. Communicates with program, capture and operating unit management as well as the end customer. Direct technical customer relationship management is a critical responsibility. Must have leadership capabilities to help shape and sell architectural solutions.
* Serves as a software systems subject matter expert for teams defining complete systems solution to meet customer requirements aligned with product line roadmaps
* Reuses, extends, designs, develops, demonstrates and maintains software and firmware product line components and computing systems software
* Applies standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle
* Mentors staff required to develop software and firmware solutions.
* Interfaces with customers, suppliers and other technical and support personnel.
* Defines architectural solutions that meet cost and schedule constraints
Basic Qualifications:
Software Engineer 5 requires 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD. Experience in developing near real-time information processing and control software for real-time embedded systems.
Full software development lifecycle experience including requirements, design, implementation, and verification;
Knowledge of military communications systems; Object-Oriented software design and development methods and tools; experience with software/hardware integration and lab/bench testing; hands-on experience with hardware/software interface development, integration and testing.
Experience with planning, execution and risk management.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent customer relationship management skills. US citizenship and active DoD secret clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:

14 years of experience working with communications systems for airborne platforms
Experience with conceptual prototype development
Model based system engineering
