At Amazon, we have millions of customers shopping and using services that produce a huge amount of data for our scientists and engineers to work with. We're looking for a forward-thinking, self-motivated Sr. UX Designer to conceive, test, and launch self-service tools that make it easier for our scientists and engineers to do their work every day.

As a member of the Eider team you'll work at the intersection of human centered design and ML technologies, with the opportunity to have impact across the company. You'll be working in a fast-paced, start-up like environment, with the charter of democratizing the tools and knowledge required to do ML at scale. To do this, we're building a platform that lets our users learn about ML, access and experiment with data, derive insights, manage compute, and build ML models to use in production.

About you

You set a high bar with everything you deliver. You feel comfortable working on ambiguous projects because you can distill complex problems into simple solutions. You focus on details and obsess over ways to improve the customer's experience. You have big ideas and aren't afraid to experiment, because you know failure is an important part of innovation. You can clearly articulate your process which includes research, IA, journey mapping, testing, designing, and prototyping.

Responsibilities

We need a creative and customer-obsessed Sr. UX Designer to help lead new initiatives for Eider, our hosted notebook service. Your work will help simplify, improve, and define the tools that thousands of Amazon scientists and engineers will use to develop state-of-the-art data science solutions.

You'll be responsible for driving design deliverables such as interaction models, scenarios, sketches, story boards, wireframes, user interface designs, and prototypes. You're an expert at using Photoshop, Sketch, InVision, or other prototyping tools like HTML/CSS. You know how to balance qualitative and quantitative data to help make the best user-centered design decisions.

What is Eider?

Eider is a notebook-based platform for data science and machine learning. Eider's notebook service simplifies and speeds up development at each stage of the data processing and ML life-cycle. Specifically, it focused on removing barriers in (1) accessing data, (2) setting up and managing infrastructure that is InfoSec compliant, (3) access to the latest ML technology and standards both internal and open source, (4) moving ML applications to production and managing them, and (5) collaborative experience for ML education and application development.
