Job Description

Have you ever wondered what sort of systems and software power the world's largest e-Commerce catalog? At Amazon, literally, the whole world is our customer and this means our catalog is truly a 'global' catalog. What sort of systems do you build to host such a catalog and process millions of updates on the billions of items every single day when you know traditional database technologies just cannot handle the massive scale? How do you ensure that you serve up the freshest possible information to hundreds of millions of Amazon's customers around the world 24x7x365?

Welcome to the world of highly distributed systems and massive scale - the Selection Contribution Platform (SCP)! The SCP team is part of the eCommerce Selection Systems at Amazon and builds and manages the backend systems that host the massive Amazon catalog and the tools to manage it. It is at the heart of Amazon's business. The scale and performance challenges being encountered have no precedence elsewhere, requiring us to constantly innovate cutting edge solutions. Amazon's sizzling double digit growth in business ensures that there is never a dull moment!

We are looking for a passionate, results-oriented, innovative Sr. Technical Program Manager to lead and drive delivery of large, complex, high impact programs. A successful candidate will have a strong software development background, experience in developing vision and driving roadmaps for large software products, excellent influencing, project management and communication skills.

Do you enjoy the challenge and ownership that comes from driving complex, cross-functional and cross-organizational programs? Do you like working in an entrepreneurial environment solving complex business and technical problems and delivering innovative solutions? Would you like to solve big data challenges, guide development of highly distributed systems and web services, push boundaries of scale, apply machine learning? If you answer yes, building the Earth's largest product selection may just be the perfect opportunity for you.

* Thinking big and working with Senior leadership, business stakeholders and engineering teams to define vision, strategy and requirements.
* Delivering results by driving execution of programs spanning multiple organizations from design to rollout.
* Earning trust through regular communication with senior management on status, risks and change control.
* Owning all metrics around initiative goals you will define. We make decisions based on data.
* Being resourceful and creative to overcome obstacles and turn challenges into opportunities.
