Job Description

If you love high profile, fast paced, complex technology challenges building tools that simplify the lives of tens of thousands of engineers managing billions of dollars of infrastructure, then this role is for you! Amazon's exhilarating growth of infrastructure spend to support our growing businesses, phenomenal growth in engineering talent and resulting technology, and our increasing adoption of native AWS services has created an urgent opportunity for an experienced Technical Program Manager for the CloudTune Forecasting product.

As AWS' largest customer, Amazon's Consumer business, consisting of many tens of thousands of independent web services, has unique scaling challenges that require advance planning and coordination with our partners in AWS. As we increasingly shift from planning compute capacity at the 'host' level, our tools for capacity planning need to be continuously re-invented to account for new cloud paradigms. The future of capacity management reduces the burden on our developer community to manage at Amazon scale through auto-scaled and flexible capacity pools, serverless hosted higher order services, and dynamic pricing across multi-year planning horizons.

This role, reporting into the CloudTune Forecasting organization, will be responsible for the software that produces mission critical forecasts that inform procurement and allocation of compute capacity for Amazon businesses (Retail, Amazon Video, Kindle, Amazon Subsidiaries and more). The CloudTune forecasts are consumed across Amazon during new product launches, high velocity events and non-peak periods. As a TPM in the CloudTune team you'll partner with technology and science teams to build sophisticated algorithms that involve learning from large amounts of past data, such as actual sales, website traffic, merchandising activities, promotions, similar products and product attributes, in order to forecast the key demand drivers for our compute infrastructure. You will be expected to deliver initiatives that benefit all of Amazon while leveraging latest in AWS, big data and machine learning. You will envision and build the tools, programs, and policies that will underpin the next phase of Amazon's growth.

The successful candidate will have a strong TPM background, with demonstrated experience leading large cross-organizational software development projects, and will have a deep technical background in current web and micro-service technologies, preferably including Amazon Web Services. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and help drive change. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, help engineering leaders develop functional specifications, then deliver programs in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are key factors to success in this role.
