Job Description

The green field Last Mile Planning organization has a bold vision for 2018 to enable the capacity planning of all last mile delivery programs from the ultra-fast 1 hour deliveries to other new, exciting programs. Our vision is to improve the customer experience and lower costs by automatically determining resource needs and volume controls using the best models and information available. The system will provide visibility into assumptions, network configurations, and planning results versus actuals in one place. It will be designed to allow us to safely experiment with new planning models in order to improve with little risk.

To achieve that vision, we are looking for a Sr. Technical Program Manager with strong great communication skills, a passion for solving hard problems and developing large, scalable solutions. In this role, you will work at the intersection of operational processes and technology. You will learn about real-time adaptive transportation solutions, routing algorithms and optimizations, and how to operate on large-scale datasets, and more. You will work with research scientists, senior engineers and managers to implement customer-facing solutions. You will work in a fast paced and growing environment, where ideas are prototyped, tested, and implemented in short cycles, so you will see your inventions come to life!

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make -offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.
