Job Description

Imagine being part of a team that peers into the future to predict inventory flows across millions of items spanning Amazon's marketplaces worldwide. Inventory planning involves many algorithms to buy inventory in the right quantities, at the right frequencies, from the right vendors, and assigning to the best warehouse to fulfill forecasted customer demand. Our system lives at the heart of these algorithms, keeping up with the rapid pace of innovation across systems that drive Amazon's supply chain and simulating the highly interconnected and complex relationships across these systems. We simulate the behavior of these systems, predicting inventory flows across the network to drive operational execution and providing an experimentation platform to test radical multi-million dollar ideas to optimize Amazon's supply chain.

The Amazon Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) group is looking for a highly motivated and technically adept Technical Program Manager (TPM). You will be responsible for managing key technology programs across our Simulation & Experiments tool set, successfully delivering new functionality and meeting program goals. These tools are used to (1) evaluate/advance Amazon's inventory optimization policies, (2) peer into the future to predict inventory flows by simulating complex system interactions and (3) provide insights into system behavior for each of hundreds of millions of items sold worldwide on Amazon websites.

* Are you customer obsessed?
* Do you have a strong technical program management background?
* Do you enjoy diving deep into technical specs and data?
* Are you able to balance priorities across technical constraints and business requirements?
* Do you have the ability to influence across technical organizations?
* Do you have a strong understanding of distributed systems?

If you answered YES, to all of the above - we are looking for you!!

As TPM, you will drive roadmap execution for the simulation & experiments suite. You will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

This TPM role will be highly visible across Amazon's supply chain system teams. You will be partnering with and influencing the direction of multiple engineering teams within and outside of SCOT to deliver complex/cross-functional projects. The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, and knowledge of distributed systems technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.
