Job Description
Role Summary:Responsible for designing and writing code in Java to support automated testing of product components and features. Works independently and contributes to the immediate team and to other teams across business. Contributes to automation and quality engineering discussions.
Essential Responsibilities:
Own large software development tasks in Java in support of automation in one or more teams
Collaborate with quality assurance engineers, automation developers and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend the direction of the automation strategy
Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
Build features that enable the automation of message generation (HL7, Wed Services) and the automated inspection of received data
Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using Java
Develop and execute maintainable automation tests for acceptance, functional, and regression test cases
Provide technical leadership to an agile team of 5-7
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Java OR Master's degree with 3 years of experience in Java
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
Must be willing to travel
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Hoffman Estates IL
Desired Characteristics:Technical Expertise:
Experience developing applications in Java
Experience in Behavior Driven Development or Test Driven Development
Experience with issue-tracking and agile project management systems such as Confluence, Rally, etc.
Experience working in Windows environments.
Experience working with virtual machines (VMs) as part of a test/integration infrastructure
Business Acumen:
Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
Leadership:
Ability to takes ownership of tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members
Ensures understanding of issues and presents clear rationale. Able to speak to mutual needs and win-win solutions. Uses two-way communication to influence outcomes and ongoing results
