Job Description

OMS Cloud Services Org is the backbone of Workday's Software as a Service offering. We provides microservices, tools, and frameworks used to automate and streamline the deployment and operation of the every growing Workday stack. These days we are actively transforming our deployment landscape by moving towards public cloud, via configuration driven deployment. We are mainly focused on the two following areas:Configuration(EC):Workday has computing resources in both private data center and public cloud. The configuration projects that we work on revolve around providing the ability to configure the large number of servers that we own. Configuration is being used to deploy services/servers within environments. This configuration would then drive the deployment of such services on our resources. We own services and framework on how configuration specifications can be made and distributed to a large set of resources in a scalable and reliable, way, with low latency.Deployment and Operation(STeM):The projects in this area deal with the actual deployment of services. We own tools to allow Operations/System admins/Environment Owners to load/unload customers and move them around and toggle functionalities for customers by orchestrating services that need to be started based on customer's configuration. Another big area that we are working on is reducing downtime(to zero!) to improve our customers' experience while we patch our software. This time, we are looking for engineers to join our Configuration(EC) team. As a member of this team you'll work with exceptionally innovative and experienced engineers that have built highly robust, performant and scalable services that lie at the heart of Workday's technology stack. This position requires passion, courage, tenacity, imagination and a willingness to see beyond what is ordinarily possible. In this position you'll find your knowledge, experience and talents fully taxed and then some. Joining this team will allow you to develop deep technical strengths in building the foundations of a cloud platform and hone your engineering skills to take on the most difficult of software engineering problems.Requirements:

* Truly exceptional object-oriented programming and debugging skills in Java
* A keen eye for good architecture and the ability to develop new architectures and frameworks
* Deep understanding of Cloud Computing Architecture and Deployment
* Strong knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, server architectures, and distributed systems
* Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high energy and fun work environment that is agile (i.e. Scrum) and deliver value incrementally and frequently
* A bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, Math, or related field with 5+ years of experience
