Role Summary:It's important to have a strong foundation when building something new. For GE Digital, that foundation is our Predix cloud platform. We are looking for smart, enthusiastic, and friendly technologists to design, build, support, and grow the tools our developers use nearly every minute of their day. You'll help us design and build the ecosystem of tools that support GE's rapidly expanding developer community numbering in the tens of thousands.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will also be a critical part of that community, as we apply the same discoveries and innovations that go into our software to our own systems.

Developing next generation software has many challenges and the way we think and react has to grow with the products we deliver. These changes start with the tools our developers use to create tomorrows breakthrough services and applications and we need your help to make sure they are up to the task.

In this role, you will:

Design and implement cloud based micro services and dashboard for a highly scalable, large scale container based deployment

Integrate third-party tools, Paas/Saas services

Research and prototype using open source technologies

Engage subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge

Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques

Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project

Understand performance parameters and assess application performance

Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using technology chosen

Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

A minimum 4 years of professional experience.

Eligibility Requirements:

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen

Desired Characteristics:

A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in Software development building REST APIs , cloud based micro services.

Experience in two of the following languages: Go, Java, C#, Ruby, Python

Experience in test driven development , Agile process.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in Kubernetes or Cloud foundry

Experience in developing applications with one or more of the following cloud platforms: Cloud Foundry, Openstack, AWS Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine, Heroku, or any other PaaS technologies.

Desirable Experience in OS virtualization and containerization technologies such as Docker is a plus.

Experience with Fullstack development

Self-starter who is motivated to learn and is at ease working as part of a team of highly talented professionals

Expertise with any of the following: Docker, Cloud Foundry, Mesos, AWS, Jenkins, Artifactory, Git, etc.

Manage operational needs for scaling our devops services platform
