The Raytheon Space Systems Engineering organization within the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Center is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for the PTS program. This position supports the Strategic Systems product line. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for identifying system drivers, characterizing the payload architecture, defining the preliminary concept, establishing payload size and performance based upon military SATCOM mission requirements. The Lead Systems Engineer will assess architecture performance against requirements to identify technical risks, manufacturing risks, and cost drivers. Payload SWAP, performance, and affordability analyses will be performed, as well as trade studies in ground segment, constellation design, and comm payloads. The LSE will also help create system engineering models, perform analysis and identify technical risks, manufacturing risks, and cost drivers.

The LSE will influence the technical performance of all Systems Engineering activities and will assume the responsibility of all engineering decisions impacting system capabilities development, integration, verification, and work products delivery while ensuring the product meets all technical specifications, operational requirements and customer expectations. The LSE will provide technical leadership of peer groups and technical mentoring to program engineers, including close coordination with the program Chief Engineer and IPTL's, while also working closely with the Program Manager. Tasks includes architecture development, CONOPS development, trade studies, modeling and simulation, systems/software/hardware requirements analysis, as well as integration, validation and verification. The LSE will be responsible for the generation and management of artifacts associated with a Technical Baseline which include Technical Performance Metrics (TPMs) / Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), operational views, architectures, compliance matrices, system specifications, interface requirements specifications and system designs.

Required Skills:

* Minimum 10 years of system engineering experience
* Experience conducting payload and spacecraft trades and analyses
* Experience with requirements development, flowdown, analysis, verification and validation
* Experience with performance budgeting
* Experience in architectural trade studies, signal processing, test data analysis, integration and verification
* Experience providing technical leadership to an engineering team throughout the entire product life cycle
* Technical experience with SATCOM, LOS/BLOS, and networking
* Demonstrated engineering leadership experience and proven track record.
* Ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams of system design professionals
* Experienced presenter with prior responsibility for dealing with customers, management, technical staff, and internal / external organizations.
* Experience in preparing and delivering briefings to management and customers
* Clearance required day 1 AND role requires access to US only data
* U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
* U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:

* Experience with CONOPS trades and analyses (orbit and constellation design)
* Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems (TT&C, ADC, CDH, Thermal, Structures/Mechanisms, propulsion, Guidance and Navigation) and Launch vehicles.
* Excellent communication skills and experience with presenting and reporting to customers and program offices.
* Experience with all Gates and IPDS/IR processes to ensure technical and execution feasibility
* Ability to work within cross-functional teams to engage the client, comprehend the client's problems, develop strategic analytical products, support requirements analysis, including process and systems analyses, support the development of business and system architectures, and define actionable system requirements.
* Ability to mentor and lead engineering personnel to collaborate with members of other teams to accomplish problem resolution and other tasks in a timely manner.
* Knowledge of Systems level Concept of Operations
* Analysis which predicts overall system performance, error margins and performance budgets
* Experience with proposal development and technical writing, including generating Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
* Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
* Experience with modeling and simulation of space systems
* Experience in IV&V planning, test methodologies and test requirements development for space systems
* IPTL & EVMS experience
* Ability to obtain an SSBI clearance

Required Education:

* BS in Engineering, Sciences, or Mathematics

* MS in Engineering, Sciences, Mathematics, or Management
* U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
