Job Description

The Sr. Network Engineer's goal is to ensure the secure development, implementation and operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for the users, such as staff, clients, customers and vendors. The "Sr. Network Engineer" will design, install, maintain and support networking related infrastructure gear and equipment. These networks include LANs and WANs, Internets and Intranets as well as a variety of technologies such as security components, wired and wireless systems, data, voice and video with the added focus on the security of such infrastructure. The "Sr. Network Engineer" will be responsible to work independently or lead a small project team in the delivery of solutions as architected by the Network Architect or cross departmental architecture teams. The Sr. Network Engineer will also provide feedback to the architect and management regarding these deliverables. They will need to work closely and leverage vendor relations to meet the needs of the deliverables.The Sr. Network Engineer is an integral part of the HF Information Technology Division and will frequently be working across multiple sections, departments and divisions within the organization. At HF, the Sr. Network Engineer is expected to be well versed across the wide variety of technologies that encompass the enterprise such as infrastructure where he is an SME on multiple platforms, systems where he has working knowledge and even application know how as it relates to communication networks. He is expected to be able to identify and troubleshoot complex problems that frequently will cross into other areas outside their responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Project work: As assigned, the Sr. Network Engineer, whether independently or as a team lead or team member, implement secure technology solutions to meet specific architected designs or implement enhancements to current solutions in place that would result in more secure or improved risk exposure in conjunction with better or faster performance, cheaper overall cost or provide additional features and functions that would benefit our user community. This will be the primary duty of the Sr. Network Engineer.
* Developmental work: As assigned or in conjunction with the Network Architect, research and develop new and innovative network and telephony initiatives to address current and future business needs while maintaining or enhancing our overall security posture. These solutions should be well thought out; properly documented and should be in line with the overall technology and security roadmaps.
* Operational work: The Sr. Network Engineer will have limited support responsibilities but is viewed as a third tier escalation point and will be required to help in resolving critical issues as they arise or as assigned by their lead. They will also take note of our support infrastructure and make recommendation to improve and advance our support and response capabilities.
* Administrative work: As assigned, develop, maintain and track reports, documentation and proposals relating to the network and telephony infrastructure and related items under the group's responsibility with special focus on the security component of each.
* Other work: As assigned by your lead, other tasks and functions that may be required of you to perform in relation to the network and telephony group's area of expertise and responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications;

* High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
* Hands-On experience with Cisco and Non-Cisco network, security and telephony platforms.
* Work experience in two or more of the following industries: ISPs, Financials, Large Medical/Pharma, Technology Professional Services, Government or International NGO Entities.
* Direct design work experience relating to Network enhancements, requirement gathering, vendor integration and cost analysis.
* Very good communications skills, verbal and written as well as excellent customer service awareness.



Preferred Qualifications:

* BS in Computer or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with focus on network and telecommunications development.
* CCNP in Routing/Switching, Voice or Security.
* Network Operations Center (NOC) or Security Operations Center (SOC) Experience is preferred.
* Experience with large scale or complex technical solutioning.
* Hands-On experience with some of the following technologies: Palo Alto, Arista, Riverbed, Talari, Rapid 7, ForeScout, RightFax, GOOD, MailGate, WebSense, CUCM, Interactive, ACS, RSA, Extrahop, SolarWinds, NetScaller, Netmotion, APC
* Ability to script and program a plus. Unix/Linux experiences a plus.
* System administration on WinTel systems experiences a plus.
* Application development experiences a plus.
