This position is responsible for research, equipment/vendor recommendation, evaluation, and selection of Access hardware/software elements (including but not limited to xDSL modems, DSLAM ATM and Ethernet, Layer 2 aggregation ATM and Ethernet, etc.) for the overall Network Architecture. This position oversees the development and definition of detailed system specifications of the Access product and service requirements in support of new product rollouts including Architecture design and vendor selection. This individual may be required to help develop the capital budget and will coordinate with NOC/Operations, Provisioning, and regional engineering teams to integrate new elements services into the Network. This individual will also evaluate and recommend new Access technologies for deployment in Frontier's Network and document the recommendations.

Responsibilities

* Accessing technology planning and evaluation as it pertains to Architecture design including equipment selection, systems integration, requirement specifications, requirement gathering, design selection, alternative recommendations, costing and scheduling.
* Developing guidelines and specifications for the proper configuration and usage of the Access Network and its components.
* Providing financial analysis on proposed Access equipment
* Performing technical research on new equipment.
* Determining the most cost-effective way to provide additional Network services.
* Monitoring and reviewing new Access technologies required by the organization.
* Capturing the impact of software/hardware upgrades across the entire Access Networks.

Required Skills:

* Hands-on lab test/evaluation experience
* Experience in developing, authoring and executing test plans.
* Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with standards associated with Access including ADSL2+, ADSL2+bonding, VDSL2, VDSL2-bonding, eSHDSL, xPON, G.984, G.991, G.992, G.993, G.998, G.8031, G.8032, FTTx, and QoS. And Triple Plays utilization xDSL and xPON
* Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills associated with the evaluation, Architecture design and implementation of Access Networks.
* Strong familiarity with a wide-range of the predominant Access vendors.
* Working knowledge of Access EMS systems.
* Able to fluently communicate plans, alternatives, and recommendations in both written and verbal form.
* Computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio used for formulating reports and generating presentations.

Desired Skills/Experience:

* Certification are a big plus: CCNP, JNCIS, JNCIA-DevOps.
* Skills in a modern programming language such as Java, C, C++, C#, or Python
* Experience in Agile/SCRUM enterprise-scale software development
* Understanding of capacity management and Network modeling.
* Knowledge of 802.11 and Ethernet Microwave radio protocols, standards and equipment
* Knowledge of voice/VoIP protocols, standards and equipment
* Experience with the U-Verse, FiOS, or triple-play architecture including the associated Access, Ethernet, and Transport Network infrastructure.
