Job Description

Position Responsibilities

This technical management role will lead a team of Database Administrators to:

* Maintain and monitor hundreds of SQL Server installations hosting thousands of databases
* Utilize a variety of tools to assess DB health and performance
* Perform proactive capacity analysis on database servers and stay ahead of capacity requirements
* Standardize operations across disparate product lines at the DB tier
* Make recommendations on how to reduce hosting complexity/improve operational agility and efficiency
* Ensure compliance with evolving industry standards and best practices
* Ensure team compliance with Deltek, industry, and regulatory security and compliance standards
* Work with cross-functional teams to assist in application and hosting optimization
* Respond effectively to incidents and outages
* Produce documentation related to configurations, processes, and procedures related to the DBA team
* Automate database management and maintenance activities
* Provide on-call support as required

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

* 8+ years of SQL Server DBA experience on Windows Server
* 4+ years of experience with SQL 2014 or above
* 2+ years of experience in a management role
* Experience managing both local and remote teams and managing across cultures
* BS in a computing field or equivalent, with at least seven years' experience in an IT field
* Thorough understanding of database theory, concepts, and technology
* Some experience with the development of automation (PowerShell, SQL Server jobs, etc)
* Extensive experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups
* Experience with various network and RDBMS monitoring systems, such as PRTG and Solarwinds DPA
* Familiarity with issues surrounding the use of SQL Server in cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
* Working knowledge of Windows Server
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent time management and prioritization skills with an ability to escalate concerns or questions
* Strong analytical skills and a love of metrics
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
* Ability to work in a team environment

Nice to haves:

* Experience with SQL Server 2008/2012, SSRS, and SSAS
* Experience with business intelligence systems
* Experience with Splunk
* Experience with other RDBMS systems, including e.g. Oracle
* Experience with large scale database management issues
* Strong knowledge at all layers of the technology stack (hardware, storage, networking, etc)
