Who we are

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team at Cisco drives the technology that's transforming the way IT departments secure their networks, and more importantly, their users. As an Engineering Manager, you will be a key member of the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team, which is responsible for the design, development, and operation of the fundamental services powering Cisco Umbrella. At its core, the Cloud Infrastructure team provides Infrastructure as a Service for engineering in dozens of our "edge" data centers and public cloud.

Who you'll work with

The experience of members of the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team is wide and varied allowing us to see multiple perspectives of any challenge that comes our way. We are a team that is supportive of learning and experimentation. Every week our team looks for ways to continuously improve by sharing ideas and iterate until we find the best solutions. We work closely with the rest of the Infrastructure Engineering teams and Product Engineering teams to build core Internet infrastructure, security applications and distributed systems at scale.

About you

As the leader responsible for this team you will collaborate with product managers, engineers, customer facing teams (support and sales engineering), mentor other engineers and engineering leaders, help develop strategies, tools and teams to improve our security and network services reliability and interoperability. You will work with product managers and customer facing teams to represent service interoperability and reliability from a customer's perspective. You will work with many teams across Cisco, in different business units, through the entire lifecycle of a feature from problem identification and validation to development to operation. You will be responsible for the overall strategy for service reliability and interoperability. You enjoy tackling hard quality engineering, organizational and business problems. Fulfillment can come from enabling your team to grow and evolve as the business and individual needs change.

Some of the things you might work on:

Establish a device interoperability testing team for the new IPSec headend service

Help influence the overall engineering strategy for ensuring customers experience industry leading service reliability

Ease the burden of "doing reliability well" by designing reliable and easy to use availability test and reporting tools and services

Evangelize service reliability and quality engineering good practices and architecture to engineering teams in Cloud Security and collaborating across the wider Cisco Engineering Community
