Manages daily operations in the department responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. Ensures that hardware and/or software are designed and installed in a manner that meets the needs of the organization. Monitors systems performance and provides recommendations as required. The person should have sound experience wih IBM i systems, and all of IBM storage families especially v7K and FS Series.The incumbent should be hands on with administration of all IBM i and integrated systems used in support of day to day operations of Worldpac. Should be able to perform regular capacity planning and performance analysis, reporting results to management. Must take full ownership and ensure disaster recovery documentation is maintained in a state consistent with the current operating environment so as to maintain business continuity.He or She should not only manage daily operations in support of mission critical systems and plan for future growth, but will also build future roadmap, propose changes for improvement; document and automate computer operations procedures that can be presented to management teams to help build short term and long term strategies. The candidate must display a growth mindset, and be willing to go extra mile to support business, and upgrade personal technical skills. He/She should be willing to wear multiple hats to support overall team as and when needed. Should display strong analytical ability, judgment and problem analysis techniques; as well as strong communication skills both written and verbal to effectively operate with peers and IT Leadership.
Ideal candidate must have at least 10+ years of experience administering IBM AS400/iSeries environment, and must have 5+ years of supervisory experience. Must have Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related discipline required. 15+ years of work experience in lieu of degree accepted
Job Duties:
Manage a team of on-prem and cloud compute & storage team, should be able to lead and provide mentorship to team members.
Plan, configure and implement LPAR
HMC updates and set up
Perform IBM iSeries Administration - system installs, PTF deployment, software installation, configuration, custom development, and security.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes. Reviewing of system and application logs, and verifying
completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Should have good Db2 understanding to be able to perform performance analysis and system tuning for optimum performance. Experience with Performance Navigator and iDoctor.
Perform problem isolation, definition, resolution. manage escalations and follow-up for system, application, and customer problems
Recommend changes in System and Application maintenance, and standards.
Perform Security profile maintenance, security check up. Experience with Enforcive.
Ensures backups are current and provide restoration if required
Test backup/restore procedures. Experience with BRMS, Cybernetics.
Execute existing disaster recovery procedures. Experience with Mimix, PowerHA.
Prior experience in managing Linux, ESX and EMC environment is highly desirable.
Any experience with WINDOWS infrastructure, AWS and IBM Cloud is highly desirable..
Provide 24X7 on-call production support.
Must be able to occasional work during off hours, as required.
Ability to work in a team environment that are geographically distributed
