The Senior Manager, IT Global Network Services position will lead a team of Network Engineers who support the WAN and LAN design needs of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The network is very dynamic with many upgrades for additional capacity, new sites and new acquisitions. The position requires someone who can manage 'a lot of balls in the air at one time'.

The team designs and implements a network strategy and deploys best practice configurations. This person will be responsible for the overall global standardization and deployment of the company's IT Data (WAN/LAN/Wireless/Remote access) Network, including the purchase, utilization tracking, redeployment, upgrades, retirement and disposal of software and hardware within the organization. Responsible for Network Design, Planning, Cost Analysis, Budget Planning, Staffing requirements for projects, and Overall Project Coordination and accountable for project completion.

* Drive network design including the development of engineering requirements, business cases, multi-year strategic planning, establishment of budgets and staffing and overall project coordination for enhancements to the global network.
* Coordinate the overall Global Network Engineering portfolio of enhancements, collaborating with Architecture and Operations as required.
* Provide networking engineering resources to IT and Business driven projects to ensure compliance with standards, on-time and on-budget implementation.
* Collaborate with the Global Network Architecture team on the development corporate network
* Perform Tier-3 troubleshooting for the diagnosis, resolution and root cause analysis & remediation of network issues.
* Manage a full time staff of Network Engineers, including local and remote resources, including hiring, goal setting/reviews, performance management, and, if necessary, termination.
* Stratgic planning and design of highly resilient network to support cloud only initiatives

Key Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the overall management of the company's IT Data Networking design portfolio for all corporate and field locations.
* Drive regional stategy to leverage carrier neutral facilities and drive higher
* Drive the SD-WAN and SDN strategies and implementation
* Establish automation goals and reduce all manual touch points within network configuration and provisioning
* Provide tier 3 level support for hardware and design in support of the Global Data network
* Establish and maintains Policies, Procedures, & Standards, for IT management.
* Manage a $20M annual software and hardware maintenance budget and maintain a multiyear roadmap forecast.
* Interface with procurement, finance, Global Infrastructure Services, and the businesses for direction concerning assets.
* Prepare Project plans and lead teams to successful execution of scheduled projects.
* Define and enforce IT Network design policies companywide.
* Provide data analysis and support for internal or external audit requests.
* Provide complex metrics and reporting support to all relevant stakeholders.
* Identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
* Identify potential issues and drives resolution to avoid customer impact and facilitate continuous improvement.
* Build and sustain effective communications with all stakeholders and cross-functional teams in an effort to maximize the customer experience.
* Delivery of Continuous improvement of unit cost of services as measured by the quantity of services delivered year over year.
* Delivery of Continuous improvement to the "services" provided to the businesses as measured by reductions in system down time.
* Drive innovation through operations focusing on technology and processes.
* Ensure operational SLAs are met while also achieving challenging efficiency goals
* Develop quality metrics based reporting meaningful to the client, the team, and the business.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good customer service skills, and a proven ability to work with various teams.
* Must have strong analytical skills related to basic financial and contract analysis.
* Strong familiarity with a variety of industry best practices, standards for IT
* Be a self-motivated, highly ethical individual with a demonstrated ability to work as independently as well as with a team.
* Understanding and experience of cloud computing specifically relating to networks
* Experience across a wide range of industries and technologies
* Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
* Develop, plan, direct and control strategic short and long term operational objectives
* Develop relationships with our clients, engineering, and peer management teams, and effectively navigate across the organization

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

* BS/BA or 5-10 years functional IT Engineering experience
* 3 - 5 years' experience in managing global engineering resources and vendors
* Experience with Cisco products and services, CCNA certification preferred
* Advanced knowledge of Networking standards
* Excellent project management and organizational skills
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
* Extensive operational experience combined with understanding of relevant technology and its application in client organizations
* Excellent knowledge of IT general practices and methods with specialized knowledge in multiple technical disciplines such as, cloud, telecommunications, network, database and systems architecture
* Must have knowledge of Monitoring Tools (e.g. Tivoli, HP Open View, Solar winds)
