The senior developer will be responsible for supporting our systems using the ATA Spec2000 and X12 standards and further development of AAR's Dispatch Engine (DE), an internally-developed system that routes electronic messages between internal AAR systems and those of our external trading partners. Keeping the electronic messages flowing is a critical aspect of our supply chain business, so the developer should be skilled at analysis both to develop solid and lasting integration with our trading partners, as well as to help quickly diagnose any issues arising within the routing structure or the connecting systems.

Job Responsibilities:

* Primary responsibility will be as the developer setting up new and modifying existing external customers that interface with our systems using the ATA Spec2000 and X12 standards. This also includes doing ATA Spec2000 and X12 system upgrades and all actions to support interfacing with DE and other internal systems.


* Secondary responsibility will be to help maintain and expand AAR's Dispatch Engine (DE) for customers not using the ATA Spec2000 and X12 systems.


* Engage and interact with technical counterparts at AAR's customers, suppliers, transportation providers and aviation marketplaces as new or existing integration projects require.


* Monitor system for any anomalies or problems with the flow of electronic messages.


* Troubleshoot electronic messages breakdowns; recovering, restoring or rerouting messages as necessary to maintain business continuity.


* All other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Candidate Experience:

* US citizen or green card holder
* 7 years of software development, testing experience


* Strong Oracle PL/SQL and strong technical analysis skills


* Effective communication skills; able to listen to business requirements from non-technical users, understand complex business processes, apply the technical solutions to the business processes within system guidelines.


* Able to provide constructive suggestions creating novel solutions to problems; evaluates new technology as potential solutions to existing problems.


* Dependable and motivated with the personal commitment to work for extended periods on assignments with minimal oversight, delivering results in a timely manner.

Valuable Candidate Experience:

Experience in any of the following areas is not required, but will be considered valuable skills for the work. Candidates with experience in any of these areas will be given greater consideration.

* UNIX


* Experience with Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) activities; particularly the mapping activities involved in data transformation


* Experience integrating with Aviation marketplaces: Aeroxchange, ILSmart, OneAeroMRO, etc.


* Experience with SQL*Loader


* Experience with the ATA SPEC2000 EDI standard.


* Experience reading and interpreting XSD and XML structures.


* Experience developing XSD to match business requirements.


* Java


* Development and implementation of Web Services


* Aviation Supply Chain experience


* Experience with the ANSI X12 EDI standard


* Oracle Forms or Reports development


* Experience with MILSTRIP/MILSTRAP


* Experience with logistics systems and interfaces of the various US Military branches

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
