Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

This position will provide critical features for our core products that utilize high quality data-sets in our study startup business offerings. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with strong engineering, analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

* Design and maintain large Postgres/Oracle Databases
* Tune complex SQL queries
* Troubleshoot production database performance issues
* Create scalable data mining and data analytics framework using cutting edge tools and techniques
* Design and code a large number of SQL Queries and stored procedures
* Design and develop physical/logical replications
* Monitor and perform tuning on complex ETL/ELT jobs
* Implement processes and procedures for the development and release of products/projects that facilitate high quality and rapid deployment
* Participate in code reviews to validate effectiveness and quality of code.
* Publish documentation and collaborative information using internal tools.
* Apply machine learning and data analytics to detect changes in data patterns for operational intelligence as well as business intelligence
* Apply data modeling and predictive analysis to proactively predict possible issues ahead of time
* Proactive system monitoring & alerting.
* Expertise in Database Architecture in an environment that handles large volume of data.
* Demonstrate expertise in performance tuning including both query and server optimization.
* Strong knowledge and experience in data modeling, database design, optimization for performance, SQL, stored procedures
* Expertise in understanding complex business needs, analyzing, designing and developing solutions
* Experience in Postgres, Oracle databases.
* Experience in trouble shooting and resolving data issues
* Experience in agile development is preferred
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* 8 years relational database and SQL experience
* Solid experience (5 years ) in coding complex SQL queries and stored procedures
* Strong understanding of database development methodologies (Agile and Scrum)
* Python and bash shell scripting
* Experience in the data warehouse space, custom ETL design & implementation
* Experience with Tableau
* Experience with Continuous Integration Tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo) and Test Driven Development (TDD).
* Strong expertise with common big-data tools and techniques (R, NumPy) for number
* Health care domain knowledge.
* Expert knowledge developing and debugging in Ruby on Rails, Java or, Python
* Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Spark/Storm
* Large distributed systems design and development experience is a bonus
