Participates in design, development and implementation of complex databases, often using new technologies. Viewed as the subject matter expert for the team. Manages multiple, moderately complex projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants or managers. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Computer Science degree preferred or substantially equivalent experience. Typically 7-10 years of IT experience.

This role supports critical SQL Server Database applications and is a subject matter expert in the SQL Server.

Key Responsibilities & Professional Competencies:

* Strong MS SQL, data modeling and database design skills
* Performs database backup/recovery management and capacity planning
* Creates users and assigning permissions based on the minimum level of database access the user would need
* Implements monitoring procedures to maximize availability and performance of the database/instances
* Configures database mirroring, log shipping, always on and SQL replication as part of Disaster Recovery and high availability Strategy.
* Backups and recovery of SQL databases.
* Ensures compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures
* Troubleshoots and performs root cause analysis of problems and recommend solutions to resolve the problems.
* Expertise in Performance Tuning and Query Optimization, Partitioning, Compression, and Indexing
* Participates in design and code reviews to promote system reliability and efficiency by implementing standards and best-practices.
* Performs code migrations and updates through lower level environment and ultimately into production.
* Experience leading projects and working with people in different time zones & teams across the enterprise.
* Assists application developers in refining complex queues and performance tuning.
* Ability to work well under pressure and independently
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with appropriate parties
* Experience working in a 24x7 environment.

Required Job Skills:

* 7+ years of experience in database designing, development, Performance Tuning and Query Optimization in MS SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016 standalone and clusters, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Service and Analysis Services
* Proficient in Always-on/Mirroring/Log Shipping
* Proficient in Performance Tuning, Partitioning, Compression, indexing
* Expertise in T-SQL performance optimizing
* Experience with T-SQL coding and debugging
* Ability to work in an on call rotation
