Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. seeks a SQL Server Database Administrator in Union, NJ to collaborate with existing team members to maintain database uptime in support of the business. Support development and production database environments in a collaborative team environment. Recommend and implement database best practices. Prepare supporting documentation for major system events and project initiatives. Participate in the on-call schedule for 24x7 support and follow through on any necessary remediation tasks associated with 24x7 support in the SQL Server environments. Participate in offsite high availability/disaster recovery. Complete support tasks for SQL Server 2005, 2008 R2, 2012 and 2014. Participate in project management tasks towards the successful delivery of key database upgrades and projects. Contribute in capacity and scalability planning for new initiatives. Distribute standards, policies and procedures for Data Center Operations use in supporting enterprise SQL Server databases. Arrange production monitoring requirements for existing and new database implementations. Communicate and coordinate with internal and external facing customers/departments. Recommend infrastructure enhancements/changes to improve existing products/services and/or reduce internal costs. Prepare root cause analysis documentation and follow-up communication. Participate in annual disaster recovery tests for identified SQL Server databases. Participate in high availability initiatives initiated from other teams including SQL Server AlwaysOn Failover Cluster, Active/Active or Passive Failover Cluster, Database Mirroring, Replication, and Log Shipping. Assist in SQL Server DB migrations and the deployment of new systems.
Requirements: Master's degree or equivalent in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field plus one (1) year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Must have one (1) year of experience in the following: Preparing and reviewing technical documentation within SQL Server; Establishing Backup/Recovery, Database Maintenance, Patch Management, Applications Support and Job Scheduling procedures; Utilizing SQL Server AlwaysOn Failover Cluster, Active/Active Failover Cluster, Database Mirroring, Replication, and Log Shipping to configure databases; Utilizing SQL Server Reporting Services and Analysis Services to configure databases; Utilizing SSIS packages, stored procedures, triggers, and functions; Preparing performance and database space reports; Utilizing auditing concepts and PCI requirements; Translating entity relationship diagrams into physical data models; and Participating in infrastructure upgrades and new database roll-out projects.
