Overview

KeyW is looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator to support our government client in Vienna, VA with a Top Secret clearance.

The candidate will be primarily responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our client applications. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to learn the Marklogic NoSQL database to assist the team in providing overall database support. This is a "hands-on" position requiring solid technical database skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

* Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
* Configure and maintain SQL Server database servers, clusters and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
* Configure and maintain high-availability SQL Server clusters at multiple sites, apply best practices to support disaster recovery and/or COOP scenarios.
* Learn and understand the Marklogic NoSQL database fundamentals
* Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
* Work as part of a team to perform a wide range of database administrative functions
* Evaluate and provide recommendations on new database technologies and architectures
* Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
* Assist developers with tuning and schema refinement
* Provide support for critical development and production systems issues
* Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities as needed
* Write and maintain logical and physical database descriptions and documentation
* Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* 2-3+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required
* Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
* Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
* Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
* Experience working with Windows servers
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Flexible, team player, "get-it-done" personality
* Ability to organize and plan work independently
* Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
* Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
* Demonstrate proficiency in the Agile Scrum methodology
* NoSQL database experience a plus
* MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus

Education and Years of Experience:

* Master's degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience in database administration OR
* Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of relevant experience in database administration OR
* Eight years of relevant experience in database management and applicable Appendix B certification.
