JOB DESCRIPTION:

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Networking Specialist covers the entire United States territory, as account demand requires. Reporting to the Network Implementation Manager, the Network Specialists primary job function is completing networking, hardware installation, integration, validation and service of the Abbott data management systems in customer sites (field based).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

2. Adheres to and promotes Abbott Code of Business Conduct.

3. Responsible for timely account installation within the general time guidelines established by account reagent volume and interface option.

4. Manage tasks associated with installation and validation of computer hardware, software and connectivity including pre-implementation planning / meeting, installation of hardware, software system verification and validation, connectivity testing and validation, establishing remote access, documentation of system integration and trouble shooting and golive support.

5. Work with customers, sales reps and IPMs as technical network resource.

6. The grade 15 NS is expected to be independently managing his/her territory and able to service and support customer base in territory.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred. High School Diploma and minimum three years job related experience.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1. Two to Five years in the Information Technology field (Hospital or Laboratory Information Systems environments preferred). 2. Microsoft Certified professional or SQL Server Database knowledge preferred. 3. One to two years in a position requiring program or project management skills. 4. Working knowledge of computer based Windows Applications, basic network architecture and configuration, and troubleshooting hardware and software a must. 5. One to two years experience working with medical staff in one or more of the following areas: New product, procedural or concept introduction Experimental design or protocol development. 6. One to two years experience working in multidisciplinary project groups, a plus.

ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE/BUDGET: (Document job role scope and accountability in relation to Quality System, people, EHS or Financial implications.) The NS provides installation and coordination support for Abbott data management integration at customer sites (field based). This includes but is not limited to, preimplementation planning and preparation, hardware, software and connectivity installation, validation of connectivity and interfaces, customer training on technical components, troubleshooting Abbott data management systems which may require onsite service, and coordination with implementation project managers and interface operations for system integration. Outstanding project management skills required. Travel schedule is extensive resulting in minimal office time. Customer focus is frequent. Compensation and recognition are tied directly to personal performance. Involves considerable freedom to structure and manage work independently. Social confidence and the ability to speak in a clear and articulate manner are important. Ability to persuade and influence without direct control is also important. Minimum overnight travel 75 (by all means of transportation).
