About Specialised Infrastructure (SI) Platform

The SI Platform team is a global server infrastructure team business-aligned to Investment Banking. It falls is under Pre-Trade Market Executions in the organization hierarchy, however is not limited to providing service to Market Executions. Platform's user base is typically trading businesses that require purpose built technology solutions with rapid response and execution. Administrators work closely with the business teams to understand their application deployments and server requirements, providing personalized direct support. In other words, whereas Shared Services is designed to provide service at scale, our team provides user-focused catered service when it's required for business success.

The scope of Platform service includes the design, deployment, and support of Linux and Windows environments, including support for storage, database, and big data platforms.

Overall Purpose of role

Linux System Administrator for SI Platform team.

Your Role

* Build, support, and monitoring of all co-located servers and select campus server infrastructure; regional escalation contact for all hosts
* Provide oncall rota support
* Expected to troubleshoot and debug incidents related (but not limited) to application, server, network, and automation
* Maintain and expand supporting infrastructure and automation

Basic Qualifications/Skills

* 8 - 10 years experience building, configuring, and maintaining production environments, including standard networking preferably RHEL as OS.
* 2-3 years experience in using Chef or similar (ansible , puppet) for end-to-end server configuration management.
* 2-3 years experience in scripting and automating complex tasks.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

* Expert knowledge of administration of Redhat Products, especially RHEL 6 & 7 and Satellite 6
* Expert knowledge of server side networking (TCP/UDP/Multicast).
* Strong analytical reasoning and problem solving skills, with the ability to assess production impact and risk
* Strong project management, interpersonal, and communication skills
* Self-motivated and comfortable making decisions without the need for immediate supervision
* Background in managing and troubleshooting low-latency trading environments, including an understanding of Linux internals, and preferably with Solarflare/Onload
