Solution Architect

Agios (agios.com) is a biopharmaceutical company committed to applying its scientific leadership in cellular metabolism to transform the lives of patients with cancer and rare genetic disorders. We are growing rapidly with a diverse robust pipeline. We have multiple first-in-class product candidates in late-stage clinical development including AG-221 and AG-120 for AML. The Solution Design & Delivery (SD&D) group within Agios Information Technology (IT) focuses on the Design and Implementation of Agios solutions to deliver business value. The SD&D group provides a set of services to Agios, including enterprise architecture, application design, technical delivery of projects and enhancements, and transition of day-to-day support tasks to L1 and L2 support teams. During the planning and scoping phase, the SD&D group works with the IT business partner team and business sponsors to architect solutions and choose technologies. The SD&D group then leverages skillsets to configure and deploy solutions that meet specified business requirements. Toward the end of the build phase, the SD&D group works to transition (through documentation and training) L1 & L2 support tasks and then maintains ownership of any future enhancements post implementation.

Key Responsibilities

* Contribute to a design and delivery service in support Agios priorities as defined by the IT project portfolio and enterprise application landscape
* Lead internal and external technical resources performing analysis, design, configuration, development, testing, and deployment activities for our applications
* Ensure internal and external 3rd party team is properly staffed to meet current and future project demands
* Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of Agios' objectives and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness, flexibility, and innovation
* Support analysis and estimation of the project pipeline
* Manage budget, issues, risks, quality, and schedule for technical workstreams
* Articulate design considerations, trade-offs, benefits, and recommendations for technical architectures with scalability and supportability in mind
* Leadership and ownership of application design and detailed configuration specifications
* Accountable for all configuration, technical testing, deployment plan, and transition to L1/L2 support
* Oversee the development lifecycle to ensure the delivery of highly scalable and secure solutions that are optimized for performance
* Accountable for overall delivery timeliness and solution quality
* Drive escalation of relevant technical risks and issues
* Support L1/L2 organization to ensure existing systems are meeting stability, performance, and capacity requirements
* Design and Deliver post-implementation enhancements to meet changing business needs

Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology or Management of Information Systems with 10+ years of experience
* IT development/technical and/or application management as well as IT project management experience (5+ years)
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
* Biotech / Life Sciences industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Cloud-based SaaS application platforms and Cloud architecture
* Hands-on experience with Veeva products: CRM, Medical, Regulatory Information Management, QMS, and QualityDocs
* Experience designing cloud-to-cloud integrations and the use of integration platforms
* Good listening skills with ability to make timely well-informed decisions
* Ability to translate business requirements and architectures into system designs
* Willingness and ability to be a "hands-on" contributor as needed
* Knowledge of software validation practices
