Your job.

Provide hands-on leadership for a full-stack development team building and enhancing products and systems in a service-oriented, highly scalable, multi-datacenter environment. Steer the work of engineering team as it works to improve the reliability, usability, scalability, and transparency of cross-channel conversations across Indeed's product line. Contribute to design reviews, incident retrospectives, and ad hoc conversations around how to approach engineering challenges within and beyond portfolio. Demonstrate deep knowledge of the software systems of the team's product areas and how they interact with products in other areas. Establish effective measurements of reliability, scalability, and delivery velocity within a product area and drive ongoing improvements. Establish and evangelize engineering best practices. Provide detailed architectural guidance for software projects implemented by others. Mentor current and future technical leaders. Influence design reviews. Deliver software projects of significant technical complexity. Anticipate and design future engineering and software product needs. Influence product goals. Analyze and communicate the value of engineering investments across the company. Lead the delivery of platforms, frameworks, or patterns that help solve problems across multiple products. Improve software engineering tools to enable multiple product areas to be more effective. Communicate technical and non-technical concepts with people in all functions.

About you.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related computer technical field

Ten (10) years of large-scale software development experience using Java, C++, Python or C#

Ten (10) years of experience with databases including SQL and NoSQL

Ten (10) years of experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures, and experience building high-performance distributed systems

Two (2) years of experience managing and coaching at least 3 software engineers

Travel up to 5% of the time required
