Sema4 is a next-generation health information company, spun out of the Mount Sinai Health System, that provides advanced genomic testing and merges big data analytics with clinical diagnostics. Our team creates practical tools that help patients, clinicians, and researchers better diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. We are striving to construct a more comprehensive picture of health by integrating three key elements: a wealth of clinical experience that informs the answers that patients and providers are seeking, the world-class academic research that illuminates new directions, and the pioneering information science that puts all the pieces together.

Our Engineering team is looking for talented Software Engineers who are passionate and excited about building, extending and scaling our external platforms and internal tools. You will be an integral part of the daily operations and ongoing growth within the company and will be responsible for the build out of software applications across multiple channels. Our development is currently done primarily in Ruby on Rails, Java and Python.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Develop clean, well-tested and high performing code for our web platform using Ruby on Rails, Java or Python.
* Design and develop internal APIs and endpoints written in Python or Java.
* Create database table schemas for MySQL databases.
* Connecting external data sources and APIs to our platform.
* Join a cross-functional team working with engineers, designers and product managers to iterate on shippable features on our main web platform.
* Regular deployment of code and performing PR reviews on code written by peers.
* Improve performance, monitoring, alerting, and security for our services
* Be an engineering leader on our team by mentoring junior engineers, collaborating on architecture and design, and driving best practices and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or comparable CS training or experience.
* 3+ years experience in Ruby on Rails, Java, Python or a similar programming language or technology.
* Formal training or working experience in React, Angular or a similar front end technology.
* Healthcare experience a strong plus.
* Solid proficiency of software fundamentals and the software development process in a collaborative team environment.
* 2+ years experience in Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud computing infrastructures.
* Ability to work and communicate effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals.
* Strong attention to detail and quality.
