Software Engineer III
Robert Half is seeking a Software Engineer II who will analyze, design, program, debug, test, implement and modify software enhancements and/or new applications used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Code may be used in end-user applications, such as desktop applications products and custom applications. Completes SDLC documentation, and procedures for all phases of software development lifecycle. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. Supports launched applications in the production environment.
Specific responsibilities will include:
o Works as a member of a cross-functional development team to provide excellent production support and customer service in support of the RHI Business Specific Data Marts.
o Work independently in developing and maintaining RHI business reporting and analytics applications.
o Creates technical designs, develops, unit tests, and documents application enhancements and fixes using RH approved technologies.
o Work independently to analyze and provide solution for simple to moderate sized system or data related issues.
o Designs, implements and maintains report batches using Oracle Reporting tools and Hyperion toolsets.
o Designs and Develops ETL processes to populate Enterprise Data Warehouse and data marts using Pentaho, and Oracle PL/SQL
o Experience with Python programming and UNIX scripting
o Prepares code migration document and works with release team in migrating the code to QA & other environments
o Troubleshoots and resolves database, application, software configuration and ETL related performance issues
o Good working knowledge of Unix, AWS and Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Pig, Hive etc)
o Experience with Data models, ETL/ELT and other backend services
o Knowledge of Azure experience is a plus
o Good knowledge of BI tools
o Ability to absorb, master and leverage emerging technologies
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
o Ability to adapt to constantly evolving/changing requirements
o Ability to work extended hours when needed to deliver results
o Assists in analyzing and solving complex system problems.
o Provides weekly status to the production supervisor/manager.
o Participates as a team member on projects
o Provides on-call support for production systems on a rotating schedule
o 2+ years' with BS in Engineering or related field. 0+ years' with MS in Engineering or related field.
o 2+ years' of professional experience in software analysis, development, engineering and support in a large corporate setting.
o 2+ years' experience writing/modifying programs for a small to mid-size application.
o 2+ years' experience administering and/or configuring an application.
o Experience with various full cycle software development methodologies, tools and practices.
o Good knowledge on software development lifecycle (SDLC).
o Good knowledge of n-tiered architecture.
o Good understand of DB concepts.
o Basic understanding of XML interfaces and web services.
o Ability to interact and communicate with customers of varying levels of expertise.
o Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
o Ability to communicate business process to technical resources.
o Ability to create complex process flow diagrams or flowcharts that demonstrate business or system process flow.
o Ability to gather requirements effectively; document requirements and confirm observations with business owners.
o Ability to perform fit/gap analysis based on requirements.
o Ability to create detailed and thorough test plans for medium-sized initiatives.
o Ability to prioritize job responsibilities.
o Demonstrated customer service abilities and problem solving skills.
o Knowledge of business systems software.
o Ability to write complex queries and reports.
o Ability to work to a project plan, meeting established deliverables and timelines.
o Ability to execute based upon directions from senior team member.
o Ability to provide guidance to lower level personnel.
o Ability to conduct training.
o Ability to create thorough documentation.
o Ability to conduct meetings, gather information and present status.
