Cloud computing is the future of computing. In the new world of cloud-enabled applications, developers need to model and publish their applications in a way that is secure and easy-to-use. Users also need to control what those applications may do with their data in a flexible and transparent way.

The Identity Applications team works at the heart of the cloud-computing revolution. The Identity Applications team designs and implements the core application models, permission-granting mechanisms, service-principal management flows, and consent policy frameworks on which all cloud-enabled applications are built-and upon which Microsoft's cloud infrastructure itself remains secure.

The Identity Applications team is part of Microsoft's Identity division, which lies at the very center of the company's cloud strategy. Together we build and operate world-class authentication and authorization services that operate at very high scale and with very high reliability. Our services are used by over a billion Windows, Office, XBOX and Azure users and handle millions of requests per minute

Basic Qualification:

* 3+ years software engineering experience

Preferred Qualification:

* Good communication and problem-solving skills
* Object-oriented design and programming skills
* BS or MS in Computer Science, or related discipline
* Experience building high-scale, public-facing cloud services
* Thorough knowledge of REST API best practices and protocols
* Familiarity with SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and LDAP

Responsibilities

* Design and develop large scale distributed software services and solutions
* Adhere to and drive modern software engineering practices through design reviews
* System design through well-defined interfaces across multiple components, code reviews, leveraging data/telemetry to make decisions
* Develop "best-in-class" engineering for our services by ensuring that the services and the components are: well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored and reusable.
* Improve test coverage for services, organize and implement integration tests, and resolve problem areas
* Considers testability, portability/monitoring, reliability, and maintainability, and understands when code is ready to be shared and delivered
* Exposes test coverage issues, organizes and implements integration tests, and resolves problem areas
* Gain a working understanding of Microsoft businesses and collaborate with mentors and leaders in order to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experiences for our users
* Focus on customer/partner needs through a data driven approach
* Troubleshoot and optimize automation, reliability and monitoring for LiveSite
