Software Engineer, Enterprise Data Pinterest

Job Description

The Corp Eng team is looking for a generalist software engineer with experience in data engineering. You'll own the flow of data between our Engineering and Enterprise systems, which fuels decision-making for multiple parts of our business. This role is part software engineer, data engineer, architect, and product manager. The right candidate will have experience with open source and commercial technologies, and be comfortable building or buying components to create a best of breed solution. Past engineering leadership experience is a plus.

What you'll do:

* Architect the strategy for Enterprise data at Pinterest; we're just getting started on the Enterprise side, so there's opportunity for big impact
* Build production-class data pipelines between our homegrown Engineering and commercial Enterprise systems
* Build vs Buy decision maker; leverage your experience to build best of breed solutions
* Establish relationships across Engineering and the Business to understand our data landscape, and create a strategy to bridge the gaps
* Establish and execute a roadmap based on business outcomes

What we're looking for:

* Hands-on experience with open source big data platforms (Hadoop, Hive, Presto) and familiarity with data visualization (Tableau, D3) technologies
* Strong in at least one of these programming languages: Python, Java, Go
* Hands-on experience in data modeling, data visualization and pipeline design and development
* Comfortable working across a wide array of technologies, project types, and business requirements. Strength in AWS and cloud data technology strongly preferred
* Experienced at organizing and leading sprints. Engineering management or team lead experience is helpful here
