Creating innovations specific to our customers with disabilities is a critical for Kindle to achieve this goal. The Kindle Content Accessibility Team is seeking a software development engineer (SDE) with a passion for solving complex problems, tenacity to make changes in multiple code bases, flexibility to ship products on multiple reading surfaces (iOS, Android, Fire OS E-readers and PC) and the drive to create reading experiences that are fun and comfortable for all Kindle customers to lead our accessibility technology programs.

Kindle is looking for a passionate and talented SDE who will help build the next versions of our reading and shopping software that is delightful for all customers to use regardless of their ability. The Software Development Engineer will provide hands-on technical leadership and contribute to the software product development life-cycle: definition, design, development, integration, test, documentation, and support of Kindle application and services across multiple platforms and code bases. This role requires broad engineering competence and in-depth technical knowledge of customer facing application and service software development, and experience in successfully estimating, planning and realizing end to end software development projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Role:

The Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development, integration, test, documentation, and support of java and C++ software across multiple platforms (iOS, Android, E-Reader, PC). This hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and in-depth technical knowledge of application software development, developing and maintaining APIs to enable other SDEs, as well as demonstrated experience successfully planning, organizing, and conducting software development projects in a dynamic environment. The SDE is specifically responsible for:

* Designing software solutions, building new concepts and methodology, hands on solving problem and writing efficient code.
* Designing and building new features that are highly performant and scalable.
* Designing interfaces to assistive technologies such as screen readers and accessible coding best practices.
* Instilling best practices for software development and documentation, making sure designs meet requirements, and delivering high quality software on tight schedules.
