Software Engineer - Verathon®

Verathon® has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to become the newest member of our Imaging and Scanning Solutions New Product Development team located in our Bothell, WA headquarters.

Position Summary:

The Software Engineer is expected to work with the team to provide technical acumen and apply software development skills across a variety of technologies. This position encompasses both research and prototyping for potential new products, and medical product development using a formal quality system.

Principal Responsibilities:

* Participate in research and development of prototypes for a variety of new medical products, including use of cloud-based microservices and deep learning algorithms.
* Participate in formal product requirements definition, detailed design, coding, testing and integration.
* Develop firmware and unit tests for embedded Linux and bare metal systems, primarily using C/C++.
* Deliver robust software releases for medical device manufacturing under a formal quality system (IEC-62304), and as needed support those releases in manufacturing.
* Requires close interaction and participation with a multidisciplinary team including software, hardware, signal processing, and test engineers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* BSCS, BSEE, or equivalent technical degree or substantial work experience required.
* 2 to 3 years' experience developing embedded software; experience with medical or avionic development processes is a plus, as is experience with developing microservices or cloud-based services.
* Experience developing firmware for ARM Cortex-Mx or other 32-bit MCU (bare metal, device drivers, and state machines) using IDEs such as IAR, Keil, etc.
* Experience with developing/debugging Linux kernel drivers and user-level drivers is a plus.
* Experience with object-oriented analysis, design and development in a team environment is a plus.
* Experience providing accurate schedule estimates and meeting commitments.
* Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG is required.
* Experience making independent judgments using sound engineering principles and techniques.
* Good software development process skills including software documentation and source code configuration management (Git).
* Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
* Flexibility, willingness to learn, and a demonstrated ability to come up to speed quickly on new technologies and technical issues.

Preferred:

* Strong knowledge of Agile or Scrum development methodologies
* Product development experience in a medical device environment specific to diagnostic imaging
* Experience with medical devices performing real-time data acquisition.
