Software Engineer

You could be a great match for a Software Engineer role at Capital One's Monitoring Intelligence (MI) Engineering team.

As a Software Engineer in MI team, you will contribute to building innovative software applications and solutions for large-scale applications. Capital One maintains a full stack of technology solutions including streaming big data, state of the art machine learning, micro-service architecture, distributed computation engines, and intuitive visualizations in the cloud. To manage this, we are working with several cutting-edge technologies and are actively developing and contributing to the open source community. We have the highest executive support for acting as a catalyst for machine learning across Capital One, solving our businesses problems with the latest advancements in the field.

General Responsibilities:

* Evaluate new technologies and stay current on industry best practices


* Contribute to the codebase by developing new MicroServices/APIs in Node.js, Python, and Java


* Contribute to front end codebase using modern angular frameworks (2+)


* Continue learning through exploration, articles and attending conferences


* Experience developing with distributed processing systems such as Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Storm, Nifi, StreamSets, etc.


* Experience working with NoSQL DB's


* Develop/use APIs on multiple systems (AWS, GCP, AZURE)


* Manage day-to-day stories and tasks assigned by the team PO within JIRA board



Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree


* At least 1 year of experience with Angular (2) front end development


* At least 2 years of Node.js, Python, Java or any object-oriented programming experience


* At least 2 years of experience working with REST APIs



Preferred Qualifications:

* 2+ years experience developing with Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Storm, Nifi, or StreamSets


* 2 + years experience with emerging technologies (BigData, Machine Learning, Open Source, or cloud)


* 2+ years experience building applications in AWS or any cloud environment


* 2+ years experience with Angular (2+) front end development


* 5+ years experience of programming skills on multiple languages (Node.js, Java, Python, Perl, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5 or mobile development)
