The Center for Game Science has multiple outstanding opportunities for a Software Engineer.

The Center for Game Science seeks a Software Engineer for the development of web-based games to develop a world-wide scale scientific-discovery community centered around neuroscience. At the core of the project is a citizen science game that aims to develop new neuroscience experts capable of quickly reconstructing neural structures. The aim of our project is to speed up the discovery process in neuroscience by a factor of ten.

* Design and implement software for release that is robust, usable, and scalable. Evaluate and select appropriate technologies to support requirements at all levels, including but not limited to networking, server backend, and user interfaces.
* Work alongside domain experts to ensure the validity of the learning and scientific approaches used in games.
* Organize the release and distribution of games to make them available to the public.
* Maintain and update existing games after their release to the public. Interact with players and respond to their feedback.
* Rapidly develop prototypes of games or other applications for evaluation during projects' early brainstorm phases.
* Interact with game designers to implement designs. Determine the most effective methods for implementation of high-level designs.
* Work with artists to integrate art into games. Communicate technical requirements for art to be used in games.
* Gather and analyze data from games, including running statistical analyses and creating data visualizations.
* Assist in creation of figures, text, and videos for publications and dissemination.
* Perform related duties as required, including demonstrating games in public settings.
* Organize the release and distribution of games to make them available to the public. Interact with players and respond to their feedback.
* Maintain and update existing games after their release to the public.
* Gather and analyze data from games. Create visualizations to examine data. Run statistical tests.
* Assist in creation of figures, text, and videos for publications.
* Perform related duties as required, including demonstrating games to visitors.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of experience in software engineering (not necessarily games) to include at least 4 years of research management or software development management experience.

* 5+ years of experience in software engineering (not necessarily games).
* Experience with large scale code-bases.
* Works well in teams.
* Able to work independently.
* Self-motivated with great organization and communication skills.
* Effective problem solving skills.
* Able to design and implement complex algorithms

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
