Job Description

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

About the Opportunity

As an engineering manager at Moat, you would lead a backend team responsible for making measurement data available to our customers. You would own systems that process billions of events per day using frameworks like Spark, Kinesis, Python Twisted, and Tornado, which help our customers flag fraudulent internet users and unsafe websites. You will strike a balance between writing code, making architecture decisions, developing project plans, inspiring ownership and curiosity in your team, and reviewing their work. You will be responsible for delivering on both engineering and business goals, ensuring reliability and quality in the products you release, and working cross-functionally with other engineering and product teams.

About You

* 6 years of engineering and management experience
* A track record of owning large engineering projects from conception to delivery
* Fluency in Python (preferred)
* Experience with AWS, Linux, and cloud application architecture
* Experience with any of: databases (Postgres, Redis, Cassandra, etc.), message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.), compute frameworks (Spark, MapReduce, etc.), web frameworks, and orchestration frameworks (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
