Job Description

The Amazon Browse Classification team is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager for leading the area of Product Classification Detection in the Amazon Catalog. You will lead a team of Software Engineers and work closely with Scientist to build mechanisms that detect the integrity of products classified in the Amazon Taxonomy. The scope of work includes building an ensemble of ML techniques that detect incorrectly classified products with a high precision and undertake corresponding actions to ensure customers always browse the correct products.

This role requires collaborating closely with Scientists and scaling the engineering team working with cutting edge machine learning, natural language processing and artificial intelligence. The scope of work requires building new services that detect and take actions across new marketplaces and languages. You will lead an Amazon team that is always looking to deploy creative solutions to real world problems. Your developments are directly related to Amazon's Browse experience and impact millions of customers. Your team will build solutions ranging from automatic detection of misclassified items, active learning mechanisms for scaling human tasks, building applications for analyzing books and identify its genre, building clustering tools to analyze product composition, ingest images, text and all the unstructured attributes in the Amazon catalog to drive true understanding of products at scale.

The ideal candidate has managed teams productionizing ML-based systems in one or several of the following fields: Web search, Deep Neural Networks, Classification Systems, Clustering, Label Propagation, Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence.

A successful candidate will have an established background in managing the development of existing code, scaling systems with large data sets, automation, developing customer-facing experiences, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include:

* Hiring, developing, and mentoring software developers, and managing investments that accelerate scaling for new marketplaces
* Owning the strategic planning and project execution for long-term projects, creating value for our customers
* Collaborating effectively across multiple software engineering teams and retail businesses to distill requirements that impact their customer experiences
* Regular reporting on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
