Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a software engineering manager to build tooling to manage the full life cycle of our embedded server controller. We need to continue building out the engineering team, establish timelines, and manage deliverables. Multiple development teams will act as your customer and coordinating requirements across them will be essential.

The EC2 Nucleus team is responsible for the design and maintenance of all of Amazon's core compute platforms. We have a special focus on EC2, the Elastic Compute Cloud that is the basis for much of Amazon Web Services (AWS). We're also responsible for tools associated with the performance characterization, qualification, build and deployment of our platforms.

Specifically the software development manager will:

* Manage a team that develops software for an embedded server controller
* Work across various environments from a small, hands-on lab to public EC2
* Champion continuous improvements to testing coverage, diversity, and alarming
* Lead the team to schedule and manage the contents for future and on-going upgrades and releases.

We're looking for an ambitious self-starter with a passion and experience in development and automation. We need proven analytical capabilities, strong persuasive writing skills, and the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is expected to have solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, and expertise in C/C++ development in a Linux environment. Specific, in-depth knowledge of the use, design, and development of Linux operating system internals is preferred.
