Job Description

The AWS Transit Gateway group is spinning up a new initiative and a new team to deliver a new line of business. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong and experienced leader to step in and take ownership of a highly innovative technology offering, and build a business from the ground up. We are looking for an experienced software development manager who can lead a highly skilled team of software developers as they design, develop and deploy a new product build to operate at the scale of AWS' cloud.

This leader will own staffing and managing the team, proposing, owning and delivering the product roadmap. The successful candidate will be comfortable with dealing in an ambiguous problem space, working directly with customers to help guide the product design and roadmap.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the potential of cloud computing as well as about building great resilient, scalable and high-performance services. This leader has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a rapid growth environment where priorities shift quickly.

We are looking for a strong leader who prioritizes well, communicates clearly and understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong team. They are a seasoned, mature engineering leader who is comfortable building teams and developing staff. This person has a proven track record of building a culture centered on customer focus, efficient execution, high quality, rigorous testing, deep monitoring, and solid deployment practices. AWS in general, and this business in particular, operates at very large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. A high level of ownership and accountability is a must.
