About Amazon

Job Description

The Inventory Planning and Control (IPC) team owns Amazon's global inventory management systems. We build the systems that decide what, when, where, and how much we should buy to meet Amazon's business goals and to make our customers happy. We do this for millions of items worth billions of dollars world-wide. Our systems are built entirely in-house, and are on the cutting edge in automated large-scale business, inventory and supply chain planning and optimization systems. We are on the forefront of supply chain thought leadership and work with some of the best research scientists and software developers in the industry.

We're looking for a proven Software Development Manager who can help lead the Buying space to the next level: shaping the roadmap, defining the platform that allows many teams to innovate quickly, and integrating these efforts into a coherent product. Our ideal candidate has great insight into our customers (and the analytic skills to develop these insights), the vision and creativity to find innovative ways to act on these insights, the technical chops to translate those ideas into innovative design, and interpersonal and project management skills to harness the passion and energy of teams across the company to drive the designs into the world as products that will delight our customers.

As a leader on the team, you will be expected to operate at all levels, diving deep into the details whilst also providing strategic direction. You will be a key player in strategic planning, project execution, development of engineering talent, and the ongoing operation and improvement of the services and technologies you own.

The successful candidate is expected to be a hands-on technical manager who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of the software development and deployment life-cycle including: design, development, documentation, testing and operations. You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. We're looking for people who are smart and can get things done.
