The AWS Security Services team at Amazon.com is looking for a passionate and innovative Software Development Manager. In this role, you will lead a team to design and build services to support our customers. Security Services is crucial for Amazon's long-term success as a technology services company. It is the future of Amazon. We are rapidly expanding our team to meet our fast growing needs.

Responsibilities include direct management of development engineers, process and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery.

You should have a proven track record in recruiting and retaining top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.

Have a deep understanding of software architecture and development methodology. The ideal candidate will have past experience working as a software development engineer. You will enjoy keeping your technical skills current, to the point that you can contribute to architecture discussions. You regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.

Have strong project management experience. The successful candidate will create roadmaps and project plans for the team. This will include innovating and inventing new value-add services layered on top of our existing services. Experience with Agile methodologies is an advantage.

Know how to run a tight, lean, efficient operation. The right candidate will want to measure everything. You will excel at using metrics, monitoring, and alarming to measure and improve the operational processes and performance of the team.
