Job Description

Owning storage infrastructure for the cloud requires continuous innovation and solid delivery. The Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) provides a simple web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. To make this happen, Amazon S3 needs to build teams with the passion to handle the toughest problems in distributed systems.

We're looking for a Software Development Manager to spearhead a key area of the Amazon S3 request plane, the S3 API Engine development team. As a leader driving this area, you will focus on the challenges of writing API routing and handling software for the vast array of use cases that customers use on S3 today. You will dig into the details of high-scale API request processing, drive new best practices and software abstractions in critical S3 code paths, and look around corners for innovations in the webservices API development space. You will define, plan and execute on deliverables that break ground in enabling new workloads to work seamlessly with S3. You will partner directly with the other teams across S3 to enable performant object handling logic to meet customer needs. You will grow a team to build solutions that impact a wide swath of customers with a focus on high standards in coding, testing, and delivery.

At Amazon, we hire hands-on managers at all levels. This leader must be able to dive deep into the details on business, operations and engineering. We need technical, detail-oriented leaders who can build and grow organizations. You'll need to excel at hiring and developing both systems level and application level engineers. You need to be able to grow leaders in your organization and lead a charter that grows as your organization grows. Our services operate at large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. You'll also need to be willing to share big ideas and execute to deliver the next big innovations at rapid pace. If this sounds like your wheelhouse, then come work hard and make history with Amazon S3.
