The Data-as-a-Service Team
Our team has a fun job ahead and we are working fast towards it! Workday customers use our reporting capabilities to gain important insights into how their organization functions. However, these insights currently can only look inward; a customer cannot currently understand how their organization is functioning in comparison to others in their industry, location, or company lifecycle. Instead, customers pay money to manually move their data to 3rd party benchmarking services via insecure spreadsheets. As a cloud-based system, we are in a unique position to deliver customized, relevant industry benchmark reports to our customers in a secure, automated manner. This service will also maintain anonymity and data compliance while giving new value to the a customer's metrics and benchmarks.
What we need:
A strong Test Engineer to develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality. In addition to automation, the ideal candidate would build the tooling we need for writing, maintaining and executing our automated tests. You will review system requirements, track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts) and ultimately own all stages of the software development test cycle. This role plays an important part in our company's product development process. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure the software runs smoothly and meets client needs, while being cost-effective. If you hold an engineering background and enjoy providing end-to-end solutions to software gaps, we'd like to meet you.
What you'll do:
* Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
* Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test cases
* Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open source tools
* Build the tooling for our automated tests
* Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
* Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to engineers
* Participate in troubleshooting, investigating, debugging and defining the best practice for ensuring stability of our production environment
* Act as a liaison with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
* Monitor debugging process results
* Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
* Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies
What you have:
* Programming experience (3+ years) in an object-oriented language
* Understand modern web application architecture
* Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and processes
* Hands-on experience with white box testing
* Solid knowledge of SQL and familiarity with python, shell, or other scripting languages
* Familiarity with CI/CD concepts
