The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Nucleus team owns the packet pipeline that runs right beneath all our customer's EC2 Virtual Private Cloud instances. Our goal is bring the AWS networking capability to be on par with on premise networking capabilities (advanced firewall rules, scalability, advanced routing protocols) and increased performance over time. Our Software touches every single packet on every single host across AWS massive worldwide fleet and we have interesting yet challenging problems in hand to keep-up with growth of AWS network.

We are growing fast, and are looking for a Software Engineer to help build our next generation of productivity tools and automation framework. In this role, you will part of a team that builds a scalable and high availability tool-chain to automate anomalies detection (example SW/HW crash), analytics and reporting across a large organization. This will require a thorough understanding of all our components, full stack web development as well as familiarity with exciting computer science fields such as machine learning. The longer term goal for the tool chain is build them as managed service so that various Amazon internal teams can leverage. You will also work closely with various teams within EC2 to design and implement E2E automated test framework providing you with the opportunity to have a wide influence across the org.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Mentoring junior engineers, ensuring the right development practices are followed.
* Be very hands-on; work with the engineering team to manage the day-to-day development activities by leading architecture decisions, participating in designs, design review, code review, and implementation.
* Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies and work with management and development team in bringing new technologies.
* Communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
